How To Stop Recurring Sins

I had a sparkling thought that it is stupid to repeat the same sin which was already experienced. Let's think of a Christian man who used to become lustful whenever looking at women. He instantly feels guilty, and repents in front of God by praying and reading the Bible. But, he accidentally becomes fascinated by a gorgeous woman just in a few minutes after repentance, shortly devoured by sexual desire, and he ultimately repeats to commit the same sexual sin. He is not able to escape from the dual cycle of sin and repentance by himself. He was seemingly faithful in God, but his sinful life does not show any stop sign.

What was wrong for him? I assume that he perhaps misunderstood the true meaning of faith. Repentance, praying, and reading the Bible are not the essential bricks for building the house of a faithful life, but rather they can be deemed to be just a kind of tools which may be instrumental to make a better house. If so, what should be the bricks for my faithful life? I think that the bricks should be Jesus Christ himself. We should not focus on the acts of praying and reading the Scripture, but focus on Jesus Christ himself. Without truly meeting the Holy Spirit, any pious act -like worship, volunteering, praying, reading the Bible-, strictly speaking, is neither beneficial nor meaningful. Such an act would not be worship but just a puppet show.

Why don't our Christian lives change at all and remain sinful even after baptism and salvation? It is because we do not live with Jesus but just pretend to be a devout Christian. If we always lived and breathed with Jesus Christ, we could not commit the same sin again. I realized that all my problems of recurring sins started from this hypocritical Christian life. God does not want to see our deceitful play, but He wants to be with us. God, I repent my fake faith. Let me live out with you, so that I can resist any temptation and harsh trial. All what I want is just to be with You, my Lord who loves me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
