Paper Presentation in SPIE Electronic Imaging

The 21st Annual IS&T/SPIE Symposium on Electronic Imaging had been held at the San Jose Convention Center during 18 ~22 January 2009. I took part in the conference to have a presentation for the paper "Real-time Detection and Tracking of Multiple Objects with Partial Decoding in H.264|AVC Bitstream Domain" of which I am the first author.

I presented my novel algorithm for real-time object detection and tracking in compressed domain at the conference section on Real-Time Image and Video Processing (7244) at 19 January 2009. Some of participants showed me their great interests. They asked me about the characteristics and weakness of the proposed algorithm such as the processing time, tracking accuracy, and what should be further improved for practicality. I discussed about my algorithm with Mr. David Hands from Ipswich, United Kingdom right after my presentation.

Also, I met excellent researchers from US Army, UK Companies, Georgia Tech, ETRI, Seoul National University, and Yonsei University. I also visited to the department of computer science in Stanford University and UC Berkeley. I could find how they had been researching with strong passion. These experiences stimulated me to pursue higher goals of research in computer science.
